Hi Tina,

Artisan Bespoke 002

Thanks for getting in touch. Ideally, we need a bit more information, such as your comfort preference in a mattress and mattress type. Ie do you want a traditional pocket sprung mattress like our Origins and Artisan ranges or a contemporary foam model such as our Hybrid and Fusion ranges? However, we can offer some advice to get you started. Reading this post also helps point you to the most pertinent information when starting out on your new mattress journey!

What you will need to do is get the correct tension of support for your weight first and foremost. Then after that, you decide what comfort ‘feel ‘ you want from the mattress. Soft, medium or firm? Then using this you can then factor in different style or materials in the mattress to get that feeling. To help a bad back it is essential to have the correct mattress support tension and then some give in the upholstery. A firm mattress is no use for a bad back and this is an old wives tale you can read more on that here.

At 16 stone you are on the cusp between a springs/”>medium and a firm spring gauge. We would need to know your height to work this out for you. Have a look below at the weight tolerances for each spring as a rule of thumb. We would also need to know if you are a side sleeper as this can affect any recommendation.
