Holiday let mattress advice

Jamie asked
4th June 2012

Hi John or Ryan I have just renovated my beach house in Cornwall and am going to holiday let it, all I need to buy now are the beds.

I need one king size, one double, 4 single (all divan beds).

I want guests to have a really good holiday and hopefully return, so I want to buy beds that will be memorable for their comfort.

I suppose the weights of individuals will vary.

I’ve been reading that pocket sprung plus memory foam is good and have been told that the more pocket springs the better the comfort, i.e.

2000 better than 1000 etc, but I have no practical knowledge of memory foam and if this is a good idea to have on top of the pocket springs or just have a pillow top on top of the springs.

Basically it’s the comfort factor I’m looking for and good well made storage drawers for clothing or extra bedding/pillows etc at a reasonable price Can you recommend a bed product that will satisfy this criteria please.

Jamie.

Hi Jamie,

Thanks for your question.

As we don’t construct any sort of memory foam we certainly don’t recommend it; This is going off the regular feedback we receive that memory foam is just too hot. This is logical as memory foam requires heat retention in order to adapt to your body movements.

For guest/holiday lets we would recommend something more medium or medium/firm in the top layers. Have a look at our Origins Pocket 1500 or Origins Pocket Reflex 1000.

The Origins Pocket 1500 is a true medium in the top layers providing a slight sink into that top layer but not too much. Alternatively, our Origins Pocket Reflex 1000 is firmer in that top layer but as such accommodates a much wider range of body weights. Whilst we do say this is firmer in the comfort layers we do get a lot of feedback that this mattress is very comfortable at the same time.

Please note though that these products are not Crib 5 – We have to point this out as with hotels there is a requirement for the Crib 5 standard.

Being a holiday let you will definitely need to add a mattress protector. There isn’t necessarily a need for a mattress topper – We always recommend this if you’re finding a mattress too firm after 4-6 weeks but this is normally for your own personal use.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419. We are open Monday to Friday 8 am to 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 4 pm.

Kind Regards, Lee.
