Our new mattress, base and headboard are amazing. They were expensive but worth every penny. Julie Collier was very helpful answering questions I had ahead of placing the order including sending us a sample book to help us choose the correct fabric.

After care is superb

I’m posting an up date on my review a month ago after receiving delivery of our new Artisans Naturals, which we bought to replace our much loved but well used and tired 12 year old Artisans Naturals. Our new mattresses are superb and so comfortable, we are sleeping so well! We are so happy that we took the leap to replace our old mattressess after 12 years of use and not wait any longer, as our quality of sleep and comfort has been maintained.

John Ryan have just sent me an email, exactly a month to the day of delivery, to remind us to rotate once a month and then flip the next month and continue, to ensure settlement over time is even and to ensure comfort is maintained. We flipped and turned our old mattresses monthly which no doubt extended the life and comfort or our old mattresses. We were aware due to extensive research that any dual sided comfort layer pocket spring mattress no matter how expensive, well made or high end branded will need replacing after many years of use, and we were more than happy to replace our old mattresses with the same John Ryan Artisans Naturals….and we very satisfied that we did!

To summarise, the after care email is a really appreciated, useful, and thoughtful and no doubt will be of use to new customers of John Ryan Artisans Naturals mattressess.

Just as all of the other reviews say. I was worried about ordering a mattress online after trying so many in the shops but thought that with the return policy would allow me to hive it a go at least.

I can’t fault the company, service or product. After a telephone conversation about my partner and my sleeping preferences we went for the king size artisan mattress. It arrived perfectly packed by a company that took pride in delivering it!

As soon as we slept on the mattress we knew we had made the right choice. It was extremely comfortable and we have both slept like babies since. The mattress is beautifully made with real quality. I can’t recommend it or John Ryan anymore, go for it and give one a go you won’t look back.

Buying a mattress is non an easy task. There are so many companies and products on the market that you can spend ages searching and still not be sure if this is your best choice. John Ryan website is brilliant. Full of interesting facts and comparisons. I have emailed them three times before making a decision and they were quick in responding to my questions. After placing an online order I got a call back where my order was confirmed and then got a certificate in the mail. I felt the company was very professional. Delivery people were good.

Right decision! It was a big decision for us to spend about £3.5k on a new bed – but we have been absolutely thrilled with it from day one. Superb quality mattress. After spending best part of a year researching beds and mattresses, using John Ryan’s brilliant website to guide and advise, we are now sleeping on an Artisan Naturals super king mattress and we are absolutely delighted. We have spent time trying many of the well known, high end mattresses and we consider our Artisan Naturals to be a far better quality than any we tried. The mattress is beautifully made and from the first night sleeping on it, we felt incredibly comfortable and knew, despite our concerns about buying online, that we had made the right decision. Delivery was much quicker than expected and efficient. The whole experience was excellent and the mattress superb quality – thank you.

Mattresses still lovely after 5 years and great customer service I have bought two John Ryan mattresses, about 5 and 6 years ago, and I love them. I am so glad they are lasting as it was claimed they would (not getting all worn out and stabby after 3 years and not very comfortable to start with). Mine is a firm pocket sprung with natural wool fibres, even though they do recomend medium (I have unusual joints and back pain due to a medical issue and this one is right for me, but their online guide is a great place to look for advice). I recall the delivery process, because the company made sure to check I’d ordered the ideal one for me (they still recomend the medium but I’m happy with my selection and they didn’t push), and they made sure the mattress got onto the bed frame and made some recomendations about protecting it. The one I ordered for my partner is a medium pocket sprung and I can’t remember what filling, but they’re happy with it and it’s alright for their ‘princess and the pea’ level sleeping sensitivities (a different medical issue). The company went above and beyond on that delivery, because it was discovered at the last minute that the bed frame my carpenter brother had made for it was the wrong size, and they rearranged delivery for me and were very kind. They also made sure to assess a good route through the property and asked me to send some pictures so they could make sure to deliver the mattress without any harming coming to it (and also hopefully the delivery staff). I’ve noticed when airing out my mattress topper that there’s a couple of loose stitches on mine, I think they’re just holding on a bit of decorating piping, now it occurs to me I was going to ask the company if I should stitch them back on or leave it. As I use a mattress topper and a blanket under to protect my mattress I don’t worry about the bit of decorating piping getting caught on anything and only just remembered it writing this review, good job this prompted me to check up on that. All the structural aspects like the springs and the filling are absolutely top notch. Like really this mattress is so well made. I’m not planning to replace it for at least 5 years, I just went on the John Ryan by Design website to see if I could get any decent free advice about pillows (as they were pretty helpful on mattresses) because my pillows need replacing. The ONLY downside is how heavy they are. I’m really fussy about my mattress getting damaged because I can’t really afford to replace it and it makes a huge difference to my life, however it’s SO HEAVY I can’t move it around by myself. So I’m forever conflicted about asking friends to help me turn my mattress, or not trusting them to move it without bending it. If you have a sleeping partner who loves your mattress just as much as you do and is able bodied you should be fine. Otherwise you’ll need to bribe a trusted friend with tea and cake. I can tell the difference if I delay turning the mattress due to lack of friends to flip it (thanks covid). I recomend using a wool mattress topper on it (or whatever your preference) because the company suggest a mattress protector to stop the mattress getting full of sweat over the many years you’ll be using it basically. And, also, because they way this type of matress is sewn together leaves those tufts that I can’t remember the word for, and those can be a tiny bit lumpy to sensitive sleepers. Maybe I just love my wool mattress topper. My bed is amazingly comfy, firm, soft, supportive, breathable, airs well, never smells, never gets too hot, doesn’t ‘tip’ me into the middle if I have a guest in the bed, never ever ever hurts me or stabs me or causes me weird discomfort of uneven support. It’s just a big, dense, carefully engineered platform of comfort and I hope I can find the perfect pillow to go with it.

One mattress just wasn’t enough
Following the success of buying a new mattress from John Ryan earlier in the year, I returned to purchase an additional mattress and new divan. Ian was very helpful and the purchase was easy to make. The new bed and mattress are exactly as described and I now experience very good quality sleep. I must just mention however that it has taken 4 weeks to adjust to the different feel of the mattress but well worth it.

Artisan Naturals Mattress and Divan are excellent
We bought Artisan Naturals Mattress – King Size Zip & Link, Medium. We bought the divan as well. We replaced an old mattress and divan from a highly regarded brand which, in all fairness, was excellent prior to the past few years. We left it too long. Back problems meant that I wanted the reduced weight of a smaller mattress to turn over. The pre sales advice was excellent and the advisor was very knowledge. I had never bought a mattress online but was convinced by the argument that lying on something in store for a few minutes was not all that predictive of how one gets on with a mattress over time. The delivery was earlier than expected. The delivery partner was a bit inflexible about delivery timing on the agreed day, but the crew that showed up were very helpful and friendly. The mattress is comfortable and supportive. My back is responding positively! I liked it from the first night. The Zip is fine and one does not really notice it when sleeping. The Divan is nice, drawers work well. We have had it for two months or so. It is too early to attest to how it will wear over many years, but first impressions are good. And I am happy to join the 5* brigade – the reviews reassured me that I could spend what is a considerable sum, sight unseen for a mattress.

Excellent service and great mattress
I spent hours Googling mattresses and still remained undecided in my choice. John Ryan’s website is amazing and so informative. I was a little concerned about ordering a mattress unseen and online, but the trial period gave me confidence to buy.
We have been delighted with our mattress. It is very comfortable and of top quality. It is heavy to turn, but that’s probably down to the heavy duty springs and fillings.

After a conversation with the team at John Ryan I bought a bed from their Artisan range and we are delighted with it! It is high quality and we have never slept so well. Absolutely amazing!
This company is absolutely 1st rate. They have sat on the phone with me for probably what amounts to hours answering my questions, putting me at ease and generally being as helpful as any human beings could be. I purchased the superking Artisan naturals zip and link. It is not a cheap bed so I really wanted to be sure of what I was buying. Thanks to the lovely support these guys provided, my wife and I have had the best nights sleep we’ve ever had and we’d gladly buy from them again. In addition, the zip and link gives you a vast array of configuration options so you’ll definitely find something to suit all sleeping habbits. Thoroughly recommended.

This is the best mattress I have ever owned. The advice was fantastic and the service was spot on. I was waking up in pain before I got this mattress, I tried toppers, I tried the Emma mattress, neither worked. I called these guys for advice, they recommended a mattress type and it has been spot on so far, I’m back to a good nights’ sleep. Eternally grateful.

I’m just so livid that I wasted 50 years and so much money buying inferior beds. My new purchase is sublime, total quality, even the headboard is a conversation topic. Even if you have to borrow the money, buy a John Ryan bed, it’s not a purchase, it’s an investment in your health and well-being. Nigel PS, the delivery guys were brilliant, ten out of ten for them too!

Artisan Naturals Mattress…
I brought the Artisan Naturals Mattress it’s much more comfortable, supportive and better made than my old memory foam. Very pleased with it after a month of use. So much so that it also convinced my mother to buy a mattress from them too.

We bought the Artisan Naturals king size mattress. Having now had the mattress a month we are very happy with it. It is very supportive and comfortable. John Ryan were very helpful when I called to ask questions and were happy to recommend the mattress they thought would suit us best.
Although we didn’t use it, the returns/exchange policy gave us peace of mind knowing we had 60 days to ensure we were happy with the mattress, rather than the limited time you get to try one in a shop. Their website is also very helpful with lots of excellent information. We were very pleased with both product and service we received and would recommend John Ryan By Design.

Best company I’ve dealt in a while. I decided to give a go because of all the good reviews and I couldn’t be happier. Before purchasing I called and spoke to Gary which was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. After buying the bed I received a call from the company to check our heights and weights in order to make sure we had choose the right mattress. The mattress was delivered a week earlier. I was contacted by the team and offered a delivery slot of my choice. The mattress itself seemed superior quality but was a bit harder for my liking although my husband loved it and now 3 months later I can say I’m also getting used to. Would def recommend John Ryan and use again in the future.

Absolutely delighted with our new mattress – the Artisan Naturals in medium tension. We have slept on it for a month now and we are both getting a great nights sleep with no aches and pains in the morning. We have tried several mattresses over the past five years in trying to find something that was comfortable for a hyper mobile spine and compatible with the excess heat of the menopausal years. This mattress is great for both. When I rang for advice before placing an order, the Customer Service advisor was very knowledgeable and helpful and the website too was full of the detailed info needed to make the right decision. The specialist delivery company used was great too – very cheerful, polite and courteous even though they had to struggle to get the mattress up our narrow stairs. Highly recommend this mattress and company.

John Ryan were more than helpful in our search for a new mattress. We spoke to them several times over several months with questions, all of which were honestly answered and very helpful. So much so that we ordered a new artisan mattress.

Excellent service. Website is full of information, then staff happy to spend time fully explaining differences in mattresses and making recommendations. Mattress was then delivered on time. Getting the super king mattress up our tight stairs was difficult but carefully and cheerfully managed by delivery team from Keen and Able. Mattress is super comfy and wonderfully supportive for our dodgy backs. Would thoroughly recommend.

A perfect example of what a business and product should be
Having done a lot of research and read Trustpilot reviews we rang to ask which of two mattresses they would recommend (one was about £150 more). We were told to go for the cheaper one as it met our needs better.

They asked us to send photos of our hallway to double check the mattress would fit up the stairs during delivery- something we hadn’t thought of but turned out not to be an issue.

Fast forward 3/4 weeks and the delivery firm contacted us to let us know it was ready for delivery. They turned up on time as promised (ringing when 30 mins away) and delivered the mattress to the bedroom for us (removing all packaging). the delivery duo were polite and COVID-safe.

The mattress itself is incredibly comfy and we are extremely happy we paid for what we really wanted (Artisan Naturals).

John Ryan deserve every bit of success they get- they are an example to good, non-pushy customer service and a great product end-to-end, something increasingly rare. We will definitely purchase from them again.

Text book – mattress geeks AND great service!
From start to finish this was a textbook great experience…despite a delay due to our frame material being out of stock. It is not the first time I have purchased from John Ryan by Design Ltd… we are now on our 4th mattress (for 4 separate beds). This time we bought the bed frame and mattress together. I spoke to the very helpful Julie a couple of times and another chap (sorry cannot remember his name) and both were helpful in checking our order and letting us know that the fabric we had ordered was delayed. I was advised that although we had chosen a medium tension that the frame may make the feel of the bed a little firmer and advised us what to do if this was the case and we needed to ‘soften’ the feel a little. They really do know all about mattresses. The delivery crew were efficient and as friendly as the pandemic restrictions allowed and this was despite delivering to the top floor of our townhouse – cheers all round! The mattress is heavy (Artisans Natural) so the only worry I have is about turning it regularly!

Excellent service, and continue to be delighted with mattress 6 months later
I was very impressed by the service offered by John Ryan by Design Ltd. I spoke to two people to help me decide which sort of mattress was the right one for us (we already had a bed base supplied with a mattress by ‘someone for beds’ [I’d hate to see the ones they’re against]) and both could not have been more helpful. We anticipated a lengthy delay because of Covid-19, but the mattress was delivered and installed a month later, the old mattress being taken away for us. It’s a little early to say whether the mattress is suitable – we’ve only had it for a week or so, but the initial impression is very good. It doesn’t have memory foam, so you don’t wake up feeling like you’ve spent the night wedged in a sauna. It’s supportive and comfortable. You can both rotate it (as you are supposed to do with mattresses), and – unusually these days – flip it over, thus getting a longer life out of it. Our sleep has greatly improved and we wake up feeling more refreshed. More to the point, it has eased our aches and pains tremendously, and as I suffer from arthritis and osteoporosis that is a huge relief. Because of that I did hesitate a little before buying a product that I was unable to try out because of purchasing online, but really, the Artisan Naturals king size we bought seems superb.

The whole process of ordering was made easy for us; the guys who delivered it were pleasant and courteous; they came into the house with overshoes, masks and gloves on to see where they were taking it, and were very careful not to damage our newly-decorated hallway.

All in all, a sterling team and what I would tentatively describe (as it’s very early days yet) as an excellent product. If I have cause to change my mind within the next few months for any reason, I am assured by the site that they will do their best to remedy the situation by changing the mattress, and really, you can’t say fairer than that!

UPDATE: We’ve now had our bed for 6 months, and we continue to be pleased with it. It’s only when you have had a poor experience with a firm just after your money that you appreciate the care, customer service, and above all, the quality of the end product that John Ryan by Design give. We both sleep well, and my back pain has reduced considerably (osteoporosis, herniated discs and arthritis won’t go away, unfortunately, but a bad bed made it immeasurably worse!). When this mattress finally gives up the ghost, I’ll definitely be back for another…but that might be years yet!

First Class Service from Start to Finish
I came across John Ryan by Design after waiting 4 months for delivery of a Pure Tranquility mattress and bed from Bensons for Beds which had been cancelled three times on the actual day of delivery (once without any advance warning). In utter frustration at the appalling Bensons customer service, I cancelled my order, received a full refund and made enquiries with John Ryan by Design. Not only did I receive prompt responses to my email enquiries, I also received personal telephone contact and follow-up advice. I decided on my mattress of choice, placed the order and received delivery earlier than I expected. I only wish I had come across John Ryan by Design 4 months earlier than I did. I would not hesitate to recommend them – first class from start to finish. Oh …. and the mattress is top quality and an absolute delight to sleep on!

Worried about buying online? Just do it!
We recently purchased a mattress (November 2020) from John Ryan. Having navigated the complex world of mattresses – who knew – we came across John Ryan and their customers seemed very happy. After looking at the very extensive and detailed website we decided to take a leap of faith and order online, we were reassured by the 60 day policy to change the mattress and the guarantee, and although expensive we thought it would be worth it for a great night’s sleep. The customer care team were very good, and advised us on our purchase. We were recommended the Artisan Bespoke 004 but in the end ordered the Artisan 1500 as it was more affordable and we quite like a firm bed. Delivery was about 4 weeks. There was plenty of follow up information on how to care for your mattress and delivery team were well organised and on time. When the mattress arrived it was obvious that it was of very high quality and well constructed, but after a few weeks we realised that it really was a bit too firm and not giving us the amazing night’s sleep we’d hoped for. We gave it a good few weeks as recommended, but there was little improvement. Reluctantly, as we didn’t want to inconvenience the company, I contacted the customer team to let them know. They could not have been more helpful and organised a replacement quickly and with no quibbles – the Artisan Naturals was with us within 4 weeks. We have had this new mattress less than a week and it’s amazing, so cosy and comfortable. We have a new problem now – we can’t get out of bed! I waited to write this review to assess the whole process and I can truthfully say that the experience has been brilliant. If you are worried about investing in a mattress online and from this company, don’t be, it really has been a pleasure and totally worth it.

John Ryan Artisans natural medium
we purchased an Artisans natural mattress king size. Our last mattress contained memory foam -comfortable but impossible to sleep on because it does not breath. We are glad we chose king size-the extra room is worth it. John Ryan’s team provided excellent advice and in fact steered us away from the more expensive mattress. We were advised to get the medium mattress and tension. I was worried it would not be firm enough for me but the medium actually is ideal. My wife is prone to backache and she too is delighted that the mattress is giving her the support she needs. We did go to John Lewis for the mattress topper-a natural cotton one. No point in spending a fortune on a natural mattress and using a nylon topper,

Great service from start to finish
Great service from start to finish. I studied the John Ryan website which has a host of bed related information including a very easy to use online mattress and bed selection and ordering service,although I found it very helpful and reassuring to speak to Julie on the phone before confirming my order.The order was an Artisan Naturals Super King, zip & link bed,medium mattresses and headboard and inspite of Covid restrictions, the bed was ready for delivery in the 4 weeks quoted.
I then received an email from a firm called Keen & Able who were apparently going to deliver my bed. I had never heard of this firm previously and thought at first it was perhaps spam mail until doing a quick check online myself. Once I had contacted them, a date was arranged and 2 men & van arrived as promised on the agreed date with my bed.The men wore masks, gloves and shoe covers on entering my house and within 30 minutes the bed was fully set up with headboard fitted.
The bed itself has a quality feel and look to it and both my wife and myself have been thrilled at how comfortable the mattress has been so far, in fact everything that had been promised from the start from John Ryan.
Of course the love it or return it mattress guarantee for 60 days has to be the icing on the cake!

1st class service
1st class service, I had considered JohnRyan 6 years ago when I need a new mattress, their website impressed me with the Q and A, ultimately I decided to go with a John Lewis mattress at that time. Whilst that mattress was expensive and terrific at the beginning it has not lasted as much as it should have. Against my better judgement my wife then wanted a Simba pro hybrid, lasted less than 30 days as both of us hated it, worst mattress ever.

Now to revisit JohnRyan, worked out the best mattress for our sleep pattern/weight etc, ordered easily on their website, follow up call to talk through the purchase and make sure it was right for us. Delivered earlier than was expected and old mattress uplifted. Altogether a positive experience, the new mattress is 10 days old and has been terrific from day 1, really comfortable and sleep pattern is good, no aches or pain (I was crippled using the SIMBA). I realise some people may feel uneasy in buying a mattress they can’t try out in a showroom (as I was) but I would recommend they trust their instinct and go for it, will highly recommend.

Do it
Seen them recommended on a computer forum strangely and took the plunge on an Artisan Naturals after returning a Simba Hybrid Pro. Service was excellent and the call to ensure the mattress was tailored to my needs was a nice touch. It’s super comfy, very supportive and has definitely help my wife and I get a good nights sleep again.

Still happy after two years!
This is more of a long-term review, as it’s now nearly two years since I ordered an Artisan Naturals mattress in ‘double’ size.
Firstly, the ordering experience – the amount of information on the web site can seem a bit overwhelming at first, but it is well worth reading and digesting the facts. Interaction with the staff was very helpful in confirming my choice. The delivery itself was smooth and on time.
Secondly the product itself – after two years use it still feels pretty much ‘as new’. I do rotate and turn it regularly, and am so pleased that I went for a double-sided mattress rather than a no-turn one from the high-street stores. It is quite heavy (a tribute to the quality construction) and a little difficult to turn on my own but worth doing, and I can report that any settlement over those two years is pretty minimal. I do now use a third-party mattress topper to give a little extra softness, but this was more because one became available rather than any real need.
So in short, I’m definitely a satisfied customer, and would happily recommend John Ryan by Design for the quality of your service, and especially for the quality of the product.

Excellent mattress – pleased with my purchase
I spent quite some time researching which mattress to get as I had tried some mattresses in a box which only gave me back ache. With my many questions, they always replied on email/spoke on the phone and when mattresses could pick up again after the factory closed for a few weeks, the lead time from getting a call to say they are open to delivery was far quicker than expected. The fact that you can return too (i cant see that happening this time!) just adds that security to the purchase without being able to test in a showroom. Excellent advice
Excellent advice, brilliant service, good product.

Very well made, comfortable, good delivery, overall great value.
The bed and base itself (both Artisan range) is very well made and even though they say it could take a few weeks to get used to it we found it very comfortable from the start. We went for the medium tension, my wife is 9st and I am 12st and it’s not too firm for her at all. It did have a bit of a “new” smell but it’s not overpowering as we aired it for the recommended 8hrs and for the first 2x weeks we’ve taken off all the pillows and folded the duvet towards the end of the bed so it can air as much as possible. Of course, it’s still early days as we’ve only had it for 2x weeks but I’m sure it will last for years to come.

The initial phone call to confirm the order and the way the support staff answered my email queries were spot on. The 2x man delivery crew were very efficient and had the bed assembled in no time and took all the packaging with them. The only thing they could improve on is to possibly send a text message or a phone call with an approximate delivery time. I knew it would be delivered on a Saturday and we were excited for our new bed but I was rather surprised when the doorbell rang at 7:55am. Fortunately for us we have a spare room so we cleared the main bedroom ready for the delivery the night before. If you thought you’d have your last sleep on your old bed and clear up in the morning you could be caught by surprise:) Still, it wasn’t a big deal for us and I’d bet most customers wouldn’t get their delivery that early in the morning.

The only reason I didn’t give John Ryan by Design 5 stars is because the website described the drawers of the Artisan base being 9″ in height when in fact it is 7″ and the height is the measurement of the front panel not the actual inside of the drawer. With the front panel obviously being larger to cover the drawer the actual inside measurement of mine is about 4.72″ (12cm) so just be aware of the space. The website has since been updated.

Would I still recommend John Ryan by Design, absolutely. I spent almost 6 weeks researching bed in a box mattresses and other traditional spring mattresses and no manufacturer gives you the precise detail and GSM of what’s actually inside your mattress, not even some of the bespoke companies that charge 4x times as much.

The best sleep we have had in years. The mattress is well made and looks fantastic. I have only had it a week and already it is the comfiest mattress I have ever had. The customer service at John Ryan By Design is second to none, they are always happy to answer any questions and they were in touch to arrange delivery in the time frame we were given. Delivery was also flawless. The guys from the delivery company kept us updated as to when our mattress was going to arrive. I am extremely happy with the mattress I bought (Artisan Naturals). Obviously it is a risk buying online with no ability to try out beforehand. Artisan Naturals Mattress
I have only had my Mattress (Artisan Naturals) for just over a week and so far very nice and comfortable top quality mattress..The John Ryan by Design experience has been faultless very organised and kept informed every step of the way. Not had this level of customer service for a long time.Time will tell but very pleased so far.

Good service and good mattress
Had previously tried an online purchase of a well known king size memory foam style mattress however we could not get used to it and a regularly aching back meant that it was returned – no complaints with their service but memory foam not for us.
Did a lot of research – visited Hypnos, John Lewis and made comparisons and eventually saw the John Ryan website. All their reports made sense, service was good and mattress has proved to be great. Unlikely to be returned but without the 60 day trial I probably would not have risked the purchase. As long as it lasts a good few years we will be very happy.

Heaven!
Wow this is the most comfortable bed we have ever had by a million miles. And it feels like it’s going to stay that way. We chose the Artisan Naturals medium tension in a kingsize zip and link (my partner is a restless sleeper). We also chose a new divan base in crushed gold velvet, which is both haptically and visually divine. Luckily for us, we didn’t get to go on holiday last year so this is instead. The delivery people were punctual and pleasant – in fact every aspect of our purchase has been ideal. Thank you.

I have waited a few weeks before posting this review as when the request was made I had only had the mattress for a few days (it is the Artisans Natural double) and my first impression was that it was too firm but after several weeks it has softened and is now much more comfortable. In their literature John Ryan states that it takes time for the mattress to settle and for the customer it get used to it.
The delivery was very good we were notified what time slot we had on the day and they arrived within that period took the mattress to the room we wanted and removed and took away the packaging.
Overall pleased with the mattress and the customer service.

Will always be buying from John Ryan in the future
We have had our Super King Zip and Link Artisan Naturals mattress for almost a year now and I am still extremely happy with it. Even more so as we’d tried an Emma mattress (like sleeping on a pile of towels) and one from Bensons first – both of which were terrible.

When the John Ryan mattress arrived I already knew we were on to a winner. The quality for clear to see visually with the lovely finishing and fabric. The handles to turn the mattress are well positioned and easy to use. The zip is working well – we are turning the mattress every few months and it’s easy to do despite being a super-king size. But the best thing is how comfortable it is. My husband and I are quite differing heights and build (5’4″ and 6’2″) but we both opted for medium tension on John Ryan’s recommendation. I like a very firm mattress and my husband likes a very soft one so I was concerned that one (or both) of us was going to be disappointed but we’re both very happy with the mattress.

Delivery was good too – it took five weeks from ordering and the delivery people were very careful in carrying it upstairs and un-packaging it for us.

I would definitely recommend John Ryan mattresses and all future mattresses will definitely be coming from them. Excellent quality for a decent price.

Ordering process was very thorough with customer service checking that we had ordered the correct level of tension. Delivery was faster than I was expecting and the delivery team were very helpful. Only arrived yesterday so we’ve only slept on it once, but so far very comfortable and we are pleased with our choice.

Totally impressed. They offered excellent advice over the phone before I placed my order. Phoned and emailed after I placed my order to check I was buying the item that would suit my needs. Contacted me to arrange a convenient delivery time. Delivery arrived within a 2 hour window, delivery team polite and efficient and took old mattress away for £30. Mattress (artisan natural medium tension) is fabulous, v v comfy, husband has noticed old aches have vanished. Can not recommend highly enough (only had mattress 5 days but no complaints at all . Easy to get deep sheets and protector from John Lewis.
