Harrison mattress too firm
My wife and I recently purchased a Harrison Austwick firm king size mattress to replace the Harrison firm mattress we have been sleeping on with no problems for the last eight years. We are both agreed it is far too firm and unyielding. I now have a stiff lower back and my wife has sore hips. It has to go and we are negotiating with the retailer for a replacement. Have mattresses got firmer recently? We have done a lot of reading now and think that we should have purchased a softer mattress. We are both predominantly side sleepers. What advice could you give us? We will probably have to purchase another mattress soon and your products look interesting.
Hi Rob,
Thank you for your enquiry on our website. Sorry to hear you're suffering with your Harrison mattress. From what you have said it is definitely too firm in the comfort layers for your wife which will cause pressure pains in the shoulders, hips and knees. As side sleepers, this is something we wouldn't have recommended for you. We can't say if they have changed their spring tension. Please also bear in mind that over time you would have softened down the comfort layers in your old mattress. It can also take 4 - 6 weeks for your body to readjust to a new mattress and a few aches and pains are quite normal.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
We would need to know your weights to fully advise on an alternative. Please read this article to help when looking for a new mattress. We have 4 different ranges. Our two pocket sprung ranges are the Origins and the Artisan. Our two foam based ranges are the Hybrid and the Fusion. Once you've had a good look around our site get back in touch for a tailored recommendation.
If you would like to discuss this or anything else please call our friendly team on 0161 413 2659. Our office hours are 8 am – 8 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am – 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.
Kind Regards
Michaela
