Finding the right mattress

A customer asked

I'm struggling to find the right mattress. I am 9 stone and suffer from ME & fibromyalgia. I have been sleeping with a Tempur travel mat on my old Orthosoft mattress (which used to be OK but is now over 10 years old. The Tempur top layer is comfortable but tends to be too warm and both I and my bedroom tend to be on the warm side. I have made 2 mistake buys already this year after trying in a showroom, firstly an Abaca Ramsey medium organic latex - too firm, and now a Myers pocket sprung 1800 medium with natural fillings, but still getting a feeling of too much pressure and find the surface has too many dips & peaks and can feel the buttons despite a blanket and 2 mattress protectors. I am interested in Tempur, but worried about the heat issue, or your equivalent mattress but am a bit concerned about any chemicals used and whether there is off-gassing from the foam.

Hi izbennett,

Thank you for your enquiry.

If you have an issues with tufts and depressions in a mattress, then pocket sprung may not be the way to go.

In addition, we note that you have an issue with heat and that the Tempur tends to be too warm. We do have a mattress in our Hybrid range, which is similar in feel to the Tempur Cloud Deluxe 22, but is likely to feel somewhat cooler. In addition this mattress, the Hybrid 4 comes with a 7.5cm laygel topper which will also be cooler than the Tempur. The mattress will provide a medium feel for someone of your body weight.

As far as off-gassing is concerned, there is not going to be any greater degree of this in the Hybrid 4 than a Tempur and the attached article provides some clarification as to the overall risks associated with off-gassing.

We trust that the above is of help to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419,

Kind Regards, John and Ryan.
