TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Mattress with support and comfort.

Jules Drummond-Hay asked

Hello…we have been to John Lewis and looked at their Wensleydale in natural collection. I found the soft part more comfortable but I am worried of ordering a soft mattress and it not giving me enough support – your guidance table would recommend a medium, whereas my husband would want a medium.
I’m just not sure what to choose. we are looking at your artisan bespoke 003 or 002 in a superkingsize.
Kind regards

Jules

Hi Jules,

Thank you for placing your question and I refer to our telephone conversation this morning.

As explained, a pocket sprung mattress is made up of two parts, the springs within the mattress provide the support and the fillings which are on top of the springs provide the comfort.   You can have a mattress with a medium spring tension but with soft comfort layers or a medium spring tension with firm comfort layers.   The spring tension is dictated by body weight whereas the comfort layers are a personal choice.

The John Lewis Wensleydale mattress contains 12000 pocket springs together with cotton hemp wool etc.   The nearest mattress that we make which would have more or less a similar feel to that mattress is our Artisan bespoke 003.   This mattress has a dual layer of pocket springs which gives really good support together with layers of soft bamboo, blended wool/cotton, pure horsetail and coir coconut.  These fillings give the mattress a sumptuous feel with great support.  We give a 15 year guarantee however, with careful maintenance, this mattress should last a lot longer than this.

I hope the above information is of assistance to you however please do not hesitate to contact me should you require further advice.  I have posted to you fabric samples relating to our Artisan bases.

Kind regards Julie
