Replacement for Sleepeezee Coronet mattress

Peter asked
8th July 2014

Can you please advise. My wife and I have a 5′ queen size double sleepezee coronet 1200 pocket springs bed. We have had this for 15 years. I am 5’10″, 75kg and my wife is average weight and height. I have had all sorts of back problems, lower, thoracic and neck, and have recently developed a chronic tightness/soreness of my right thigh and buttock which is as yet undiagnosed. I tend to lie on my right hand side to get to sleep but generally wake up on my back lying face up, feeling more tired than when I went to bed!

It’s obviously time for a new mattress but don’t know which way to go. I’m not even sure if our current mattress is hard, soft or whatever!

Perhaps you can let me know?

We would like to keep the 4 door bed base but this is also sprung. What types of mattress can go with this base?

I presume I need something firmer for my back?

I have been told by my brother to go for a memory foam mattress as it’s helped him and his wife but I’m worried we may end up with something not as good as we already have!

Our current Coronet mattress has been turned and rotated regularly. Budget is an issue but I’m more aware than most of the importance of a good bed. Please can you give me some advise as my head is spinning!

Hi Peter,

Thanks for getting in touch.

I have tried to find your current mattress on the Sleepezee web site, but unfortunately, is does not appear to still exist and has probably been replaced by a different model. Without knowing the specifications of the Coronet 1200, it would be impossible to do either a comparison or confirm what mattress model has replaced it.

All of our Artisan range contain natural fillings and the specific GSM (grams per square metre) of each of those fillings is detailed within our site.

There is a myth that with a bad back you should go for a firm mattress, but this has dispelled in recent years and we would suggest that you stay clear from anything that is too firm in the upholstery layers as this will only worsen your aches and pains.

The Artisan Naturals is described as the ‘true medium’ of the Artisan range. The Naturals is our most popular, unbeatable model with 85% natural fibres. Containing a huge GSM of fillings, including wool and mohair, on a Calico springs/” title=”pocket spring”>pocket spring unit. This medium feel hand crafted mattress is where we stake our reputation as ‘The Mattress Specialists’.

We used 1500 gsm Mohair as the insulating layer to add a robust property to the forthcoming layer. BW&C would have been an additional ‘soft’ layer and an element of support within the upholstery had to be added. The Horsetail in the RS gives this property. No doubt about it, the Horsetail and Wool component in the Regal Superb mattress is a far superior component than our Poly Cotton blend and it is this aspect that you will have to compromise upon. However, the support and comfort properties can be deemed to be relatively similar. There is a rarity and complete traceability aspect on Shetland Isle Fleece Wool but I would personally be hard pressed to identify the difference offered in the sleep comfort between the two. There are several Vi Spring mattresses that also utilise Blended British Fleece Wool and Cotton as the final comfort layer. This mattress is covered in our white woven 100% Viscose with subtle John Ryan design.  This mattress is hand side stitched with 2 rows.

The models in the Artisan range can be paired with either a soft, medium or a firm spring tension for support, the correct tension is determined by the individuals body weight.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

To discuss which of our models would best suit you please call the office on 0161 437 4419 to speak to one of our friendly advisors.

Kind regards,
Amy.
