IGel Mattress Bought From Bensons

Thank you for contacting us regarding the issues you are having with your new Igel mattress which you purchased from Bensons.

Purchasing a new mattress can be something of a minefield as you need to ensure that not only do you receive the correct level of support but also the correct level of comfort. We explain about Igel mattresses within our article here.

We always advise our customers that any new mattress purchased from any Manufacturer can feel a lot firmer in the first instance while your body adjusts to the new feel. To be honest we have tried various mattresses in various Stores for our own research and most mattresses will feel different from Store to Store.   There could be many many customers bouncing around on them who have different body weights and heights so it really is impossible to try a mattress within a showroom.  I personally know from experience that it takes around 4 weeks for your body to adjust to a new mattress as when I purchased a mattress from John Ryan, having previously slept on a very old firm mattress, it seemed to take ages for my body to adjust but oh my goodness once it did, I had the best night's sleep.

However, since your new mattress feels softer than what you experienced in the Showroom, it may be a good idea to reach out to Bensons and share the concerns you have regarding your mattress.   It's quite rare for a mattress to be mislabelled as these products are typically mass produced which means they generally have a consistent spring tension and configuration.

The type of base you are using can also affect the overall feel of a mattress with a platform divan base or slatted base firming the mattress up slightly whereas a pocket sprung divan base would cushion the mattress and actually soften the mattress down.   We explain this more comprehensively within the article here.
