Pocket Sprung Base vs CoolBlue Topper with Origins Pocket 2000

Sam

Dear JohnRyan, I purchased the origins pocket 2000 earlier this year and was really impressed with the mattress and decided to keep it after the 60 day trial period. However a few months in and every day I have been waking up with severe back pain/ stiffness in the morning that eases after being up for a few hours, if I wake up in the night, it is almost impossible to get back to sleep. I felt that perhaps I needed more depth and additional support and softness, so I purchased the cool blue foam topper. This has made a massive improvement to my sleep, but I must say I am getting very hot at night, and my back condition has improved (but not eliminated). The topper is still within the 60 day trail period. The concern i have is the heat at night, the height of the bed now and none of my fitted sheets are deep enough... I was thinking would it be worth me considering buying a pocket sprung divan base to marry up with my origins pocket 2000 and returning the topper? Would the pocket sprung base soften the mattress enough to avoid the need for the topper and aid my stiffness/severe back aches in the morning. Right now the origins pocket 2000 is on a solid platform top divan. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi Sam,

Thank you for your enquiry. I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Origins Pocket 2000. Both the Coolblue and Laygel toppers are made from hybrid foams which whilst not as heat retentive as memory foam they are not as cool and breathable as a natural fibre mattress topper. The top layer in your mattress is wool so adding a natural fibre topper would be more beneficial to you.

This mattress is designed for a platform base, this gives it the true feel. Placing the Origins Pocket 2000 on an Artisan pocket sprung base will soften the overall feel of the mattress. Whilst the 2000 springs give you the correct level of support for your body weight, putting it on a sprung base may not feel supportive enough. I would recommend trying a medium upholstery mattress such as the Vi-Spring Regal Superb (which has very slightly softer upholstery layers than the Origins Pocket 2000) with a firm spring tension. These mattresses are designed for a pocket sprung base and will be displayed on this type of base in the showroom. This will help you determine if the sprung base will feel supportive or not and help you decide the direction you want to take.

I hope this is helpful and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
Michaela
