Advice on Artisan tailored pocket mattress from John Ryan

Derek asked
27th February 2015

Dear Sales support. we are looking to buy a new king sized mattress, probably an Artisan Tailored or else an Artisan Bespoke 004. My wife is 5’4″ and 13 stones and I am 6’2″ and 14 stones. we have an existing divan base (4 drawer) with sprung edge. can we sensibly re-use our existing base please?

can you recommend the better format mattress for our weights please?

we both dislike the memory-foam type finish on beds. How long a lead time can we expect for the mattress after ordering?

kind regards

Hi Derek,

Thanks for your question.

Based on your weights I would recommend a medium spring tension.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

The Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000 is more of a medium feeling model in the top layers but leans a bit more towards the firmer side of medium. The dual layered spring system here gives the mattress that slightly firmer feel.

The Artisan Bespoke 004 is very much a true medium in that top layer providing a slight sink but not too much. The Calico springs used in this model give it that more medium feel.

There’s nothing wrong with reusing your base if its in good order. We would only advise to replace the base if it’s damaged in any way or no longer serves it’s purpose.

We believe in only recommending what you need rather than selling you additionals!

The lead time for both these models is 4 weeks from every Thursday as that’s when we send our orders for production.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
