Buying a pocket sprung mattress

Justine Wood asked
6th January 2017

Hi there I am about to purchase a new super king bed and mattress. Definitely want pocket sprung was going for a silent night 1500 pocket sprung with memory foam top. Have since come across your website and now interested in your mattresses. Also thinking of just getting a topper of memory foam so can be removed in summer or if any of my children happen to be sick on the bed!I Weigh 9.6 stone and my husband weighs 14 stone. I suffer with lower back pain and take codeine at night as painful to lie still and so stiff when getting up so desperately seeking a good nights sleep as I’m Only 36! any advice on a suitable mattress from your range would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Justine,

Many thanks for your enquiry.

With your particular body weights we would suggest that you look for a medium spring tension mattress. We do not make any pocket sprung mattresses with memory foam, because of its heat-retaining qualities and the slow return to shape which this material offers.

Please view the Origins Pocket 1500, which has a standard medium spring unit together with man-made upholstery providing an overall medium feel. In terms of a topper, we would suggest not buying one at the time you buy your mattress as it can take at least 21-28 days for your body to get used to a new mattress and if you buy at the same time, it may turn out to be an unnecessary expense. If you want to protect your mattress, many high street stores stock mattress protectors, which we would always advocate you use to extend the longevity of your product.

We trust that the above helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards.
